Jake Black, a successful young man, had a high-powered career in the oil industry, making good money for himself and his family. One day, he realized that instead of making millions for his boss, he could make thousands for himself. After missing his daughter Stacie’s Christmas play, he decided to spend more time with his family while still making a good living by doing what was really his passion - a restaurant. Since the first thought, Jake has opened 13 themed restaurants across the United States such as Colorado, Florida, and Texas, including Jake’s Texas Tea House in Waco, in August 2012.
Named after his grandson Jake and Texas oil boom, the diner is a step back in time, with station signs, red-and-white striped booths, and restored classic cars. The menu features from-scratch-made family recipes, tested by years of experience and carefully picked for you to relive the good old times.
Bright, colorful, and full of classic tunes, Jake’s Texas Tea House is more than a restaurant; it’s a vibe. Each and every member is welcoming, lively, and passionate about the job, creating an atmosphere where smiles, laughter, and the smell of great food fill the air.
After an amazing 12 years at the restaurant, Jake and Karen decided to enjoy their golden days with their family members and sold the diner to Lenka and Kristian Matthiessen. A young couple passionate about hospitality and loving home-cooked food as much as Wacoans do. Grateful for hard work Jake and Karen did and looking forward to serve Waco community.
